A dietitian is a health professional with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics who translates current evidence based nutrition research into practical information about food allowing people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices. They treat a variety of medical conditions with dietary therapy specifically tailored to each individual
A paediatric dietitian is additionally qualified in the nutritional requirements and needs of children to meet their growth potential and remain healthy.
Only dietitians registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) can use the legally protected title ‘dietitian’. Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals to be regulated by law and governed by an ethical code to ensure that they always work to the highest standard.
